Buying your first mma training gears can be tricky. Below is a list of the basic mma training gears you need for a proper MMA training:
1) Headgear – The most important piece for your MMA gear, your headgear should fit very snugly and stay in place even when grappling. Headgears cost around $50 to $100.
2) Mouth guard – To protect your teeth and jaw, you need to wear mouth guards. You can find this MMA gear anywhere, ranging from $2 to $25 in price. When choosing mouth guards, go for models that are moldable, so it would fit you well.
3) Clothing – Buying fight shorts should be a priority, while the rash guard is just optional. A good pair of fight shorts, which cost around 30 to 70 dollars, is designed to give better mobility and to reduce the chances of your shorts falling off. Rash guards are optional, since training with any t-shirt provides the same experience when wearing a rash guard.
4) Shin Pads – This MMA gear come in two types – the Muay Thai and MMA shin pads. Ideal for those on a budget and people who are still starting out, the MMA shin pads can do the job well and costs $25 to $75. However, Muay Thai shin pads are more ideal for advanced fighters and anyone who can spare $70 to $100.
5) MMA Gloves – Probably the most important MMA gear you will buy, gloves come in different shapes, colors and brands. The best MMA gloves should be stitched properly, should have thick cowhide and should not be too stiff. Many MMA fighters use thumbless gloves for better grappling. Depending on the brand and material, MMA gloves may cost around $30 to $100.
Other items, such as jump rope, first aid kit, athletic tape, personal timer and hygiene products (like soap) can also be included in your MMA training gear box. When you start out, be aware that you don’t have to buy all MMA gear you see on a store; the basic equipments listed above is enough to keep your training free of injuries.
